WeCanMake is excited to be hosting a Making Together Summer Programme at Rodford Dreams, where we will be working with local biomaterials and re-use materials to design, prototype, create and build together.
We invite you to register your interest to join us for a series of workshops where we’ll be getting hands on, making furniture, green infrastructure and structures together throughout July, August and September.
Human beings are fundamentally makers. It is through our material creations – from our finest arts to everyday objects – that we communicate and connect with each other and make sense of the world. We also tend to talk more openly and can have richer discussions when our hands are busy. The collective power and social wealth generated through the craft and graft of making together is what drives our practice at WeCanMake.
This Summer Programme is an opportunity for local people, trades and handy folks, community members, activists, designers, and makers to come together to make together, and explore how we can create beautiful, affordable homes that don’t cost the earth – and in the process, re-imagine our relationship with land, materials and each other.
We invite you to join us with curiosity and a willingness to get stuck in. We will carve out time to connect and eat together at each event – food and refreshments will be provided.

Timings for the programme are tbc, but we expect that workshops will be about 4-5 hours long to allow us to be fully immersed in the materials we are exploring, including time for a shared meal. If you have accessibility needs or other duties that prevent you from attending a full workshop, you are still warmly welcome to join as long as you can.

Our summer programme is open to everyone over the age of 16. As Rodford Dreams is a construction site, we cannot provide childcare or host under 16s. This is a pro-Black, Indigenous, pro-Trans and multi-ethnic working-class space, and our language or actions together must work to embody these shared values together. If anything doesn’t feel right, please do speak to a member of our team so we can support you.
