Over July and August, WeCanMake held a series of workshops where we got together with residents to explore local biomaterials and re-use materials to design, prototype, create and build together. Along with hands-on making, we enjoyed a shared meal at each workshop and rehearsed how we can come together to create thriving neighbourhoods with deep relationships to land, materials and each other.
You are warmly invited to join us for the final event and celebration, where we'll also share an update on the planning application for the site, which comprises six affordable homes for local people and a community space at ground floor.

As Rodford Dreams is a construction site, we cannot provide childcare or host under 16s without an adult. This is a pro-Black, Indigenous, pro-Trans and multi-ethnic working-class space, and our language or actions together must work to embody these shared values together. If anything doesnβt feel right, please do speak to a member of our team so we can support you.

Human beings are fundamentally makers. It is through our material creations β from our finest arts to everyday objects β that we communicate and connect with each other and make sense of the world. We also tend to talk more openly and can have richer discussions when our hands are busy. The collective power and social wealth generated through the craft and graft of making together is what drives our practice at WeCanMake.
The Summer Programme is an opportunity for local people, trades and handy folks, community members, activists, designers, and makers to come together to make together, and explore how we can create beautiful, affordable homes that donβt cost the earth β and in the process, re-imagine our relationship with land, materials and each other.
We invited residents and wider communities to join us with curiosity and a willingness to get stuck in with hands-on explorations of DIY techniques and re-use materials. We also carved out time to connect and eat together at each event with a shared meal.
WeCanMake is a community land trust and neighbourhood test space, imagining and making new ways to create homes that build social infrastructure, community wealth, and a just transition.
